      I like working in teams to try to solve real-world problems. Science can be a very social career because you need people around you to bounce ideas off of

      I like the idea of finding out something new, especially if it is potentially going to be useful to society.

      Not all science has to be planned to be useful (otherwise you’d never find out something interesting by accident) so it is good to be working on a mix of things that have a definite use and things that just look interesting to have a go at.

      I saw a Marvel movie once where the hero talks about how his life has been like looking through a keyhole (because he can only see a small part of the whole world) and now he’s found a way to make it bigger, and see more of what the world is.
      I think that’s what science odes, it gives us a way to see more of what the world is. Once upon a time we didn’t know what electricity was, or why it rained or how to stop people getting sick, and now we do. Obviously, I only do a very small part of what science achieves every year, but one person can’t do everything.
